Monty bikes are different and have created a world of excitement for young people.

Young people wanted — and still want — a Monty, as if it were a permanent trend. When people talk about Monty, it’s because it’s a specific bike, not just any bicycle.

Monty has set a style, and when other brands have tried to imitate it, young people have continued calling them “Monty.”

BICICLETAS MONTY S.A.

Monty Bikes was founded by Pere Pi, an entrepreneur with extensive experience in motorcycles.

9-time Spanish Champion in three disciplines: motocross, trial, and speed.

This, combined with the extensive knowledge gained over 25 years as a technical designer of Montesa motorcycles, laid the foundation for the creation of a prestigious brand: Bicicletas Monty.

2004.

FIRST ELECTRIC BIKES

The trip to China would change Monty’s reins

In 2003, during one of Pere Pi’s trips to China, a noiseless vehicle became love at first sight for the founder of Bicicletas Monty: “It was like a small scooter-type motorbike, it was something new for me, out of this world, and in a few seconds I imagined that this idea could be brought to Spain as a business opportunity” – Pere Pi –.

After researching the vehicle and its features, Pere Pi decided to bring a sample to the factory so that all employees could try it. In the same way, the noiseless vehicle deeply impressed all Monty employees. Subsequently, it was decided to analyze European regulations for electric vehicles, in order to later launch what would become the brand’s first two electric vehicles (E-10 and E-70) and a bicycle-type model (E-30).

Not long after, the inspector from the Ministry of Industry in Madrid banned the sale of these new Monty vehicles due to the optional pedal-assist. As a result, the company’s strategy took a 180º turn and shifted to the world of electric bicycles, redesigning all models. Among these new models is the EF-38, with a lithium battery, foldable, and custom design, achieving the status of the lightest foldable electric bike in the world, weighing only 17.3 kg.

2018.

BH BIKES COMPLETES THE ACQUISITION OF MONTY

Shift in direction towards designs for all audiences

Monty shifts its course towards the production of generic bicycles for all audiences, opening a new path with innovative and efficient designs for urban, mountain, and children’s bikes.
